Everyone is a Leader
In today's challenging and unsettling business environment, leadership competencies are needed more than ever at all levels in every organization. People want to work for organizations that are filled with competent and trustworthy leaders - and team members. Real leadership can arise from unexpected places. You just have to look for it, while giving people greater opportunities to lead and opportunities to develop.
Workitect offers a series of three high impact leadership development programs to help develop leadership competencies in incumbent and potential leaders.
FOCUS Coaching
…is a two-day training program teaches employees and managers the essential skills of Reflective Listening, Strategic Questioning, Stretch Challenging, Performance Challenging, and Encouraging.
We believe that the single most important leadership skill is coaching. Think about it. If you agree that:
- People learn (and raise their performance) more through coached on-the-job experiences than through traditional training, and
- Formal training that is not followed by practice and good coaching is ineffective and a waste of time and money.
Then, the very top training priority should be to ensure that each supervisor is a really good coach. In other words, if you have a very limited budget, spend it on teaching employees how to be good coaches.
There are 5 principles underlying the FOCUS approach. FOCUS Coaching is:
- Fair. Coaches earn respect and commitment by treating people fairly.
- Objective. Coaching requires a foundation of objective criteria and observation.
- Collaborative. Responsibility for improving performance and competence rests with the individual, assisted by a coach.
- Useful. Improvement actions are practical, doable and add value to the organization.
- Sincere. Coaches are sincere about helping a person succeed.
